One of the most beautiful caves in the Croatian karst, the Lokvarka cave, is located a 20-minute drive from Pine Lodge. The cave was discovered by Jakov Bolf Talijanetov in 1911, quite by accident, during the excavation of limestone. The cave was first explored by geologist Josip Poljak, who named the cave Lipa after the hill Debela lipa. Later, its name was changed because the cave is not located in the hill Debela lipa, but in the hill Kameniti vrh.
